Dependable and predictable
income

These days more Australian investors put a portion of their savings into corporate bonds.

01

More income than cash pays

A set income rate, locked in for the life of the bond, in return for lending to a company rather than a bank.

02

Income on a set schedule

You are paid a set amount on set dates, usually monthly, so you know exactly what is coming and when.

03

You know exactly what you hold

You know the company you are lending to, the rate, the term and the risks before you commit. It is not a pooled fund where you never see what you own.

*Target returns are indicative, not guaranteed. Corporate bonds are not bank deposits; your capital is at risk and returns depend on the issuer meeting its obligations. Consider the Financial Services Guide and each offer document before investing.

Common questions

Things people ask before getting
in touch

A corporate bond is a loan you make to a company. In return, the company pays you a set rate of interest on set dates and repays your capital at the end of the agreed term. Unlike shares, you know the income rate and the maturity date before you invest.

Corporate bonds typically pay a higher income rate than term deposits because you are lending to a company rather than a bank, and your capital is not government guaranteed. In exchange for that additional risk, investors are compensated with higher returns and, usually, more frequent income payments.

The main risk is credit risk: the possibility the issuing company cannot meet its interest payments or repay your capital. Bonds may also be harder to sell before maturity than listed investments. Every opportunity we present sets out the specific risks in writing before you commit.

Most opportunities start from $25,000. Your specialist will confirm the minimum for any specific bond when they walk you through what is currently available.

Yes. Many of our clients invest through a self-managed super fund, allocating a portion of the fund to fixed income. Whether it suits your fund depends on your investment strategy, so speak with your adviser or accountant where appropriate.

None. The first conversation is about your situation and what is available. You invest only if an opportunity suits your goals, on your timeline.
